LOVE STORY – Apr. 30th, 8:30pm
April 4, 2013 by admin#Hashtag is proud to announce the second film in our monthly Cinema Oubliette film series:
LOVE STORY
2011, dir: Florian Habicht. 92 mins.
In Love Story, a beautiful woman, Masha (Masha Yakovenko), is carrying a piece of cake on a plate on the New York subway when she’s spied by New Zealand filmmaker, Florian (Florian Habicht). Florian convinces her to star in a home-made film with him, but Florian doesn’t have a script. Instead, he asks random New Yorkers to come up with the plot twists. However, things become complicated when Florian begins to really fall for the willowy actress. The resulting Love Story leaves the audience unsure of what is reality and what is fiction. – TIMEOUT MELBOURNE
Love Story was an official selection at Hot Docs 2012, Rooftop Film Series NYC 2012, Melbourne International Film Festival 2012, New Horizons Film Festival Poland 2012, and the opening night film of the New Zealand International Film Festival.
Florian Habicht was also awarded Best Film and Best Director at the New Zealand Film & Television Awards for his work on Love Story.
Despite these accolades, and brilliant word of mouth from screenings worldwide, Love Story has never been released internationally.
“Marvellously original…Utterly enchanting.” – VARIETY
